Alexis Frank Koczara was born and raised in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She attended University of Michigan and has degrees in both History and Psychology. After college Alexis moved to Los Angeles and began her casting career. She worked for high profile casting directors Laray Mayfield and Vicki Rosenberg prior to starting Koczara/Shevchenko Casting.
Christine Smith Shevchenko was born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After attending Mary Baldwin College, she went to Regent University Graduate School for directing. She then moved to Los Angeles and segued into casting, where she worked for high profile casting directors such as Junie Lowry Johnson prior to starting Koczara/Shevchenko Casting.
Alexis & Christine started Koczara/Shevchenko casting in 2005. They originally met when they were paired up to teach a seminar together. They became the best of friends and eventually Christine moved over to work for with Alexis at Vicki Rosenberg & Associates to cast the final seasons of Judging Amy and Joan of Arcadia, as well as the pilot for Bones. The following year Alexis & Christine partnered, and have had the good fortune to work on both comedy, drama and features over the last decade. Some of the highlights of their career to date are Blackish, Grownish, Cobra Kai, Fuller House and many more.
